How is my body changing?

You’re 2 weeks pregnant and this means you will be ovulating at the end of this week and your uterus is also getting ready to receive the fertilized egg.

There are certain things you can do to maximize your chances of conceiving. Continue tracking your temperature or you may prefer to buy an ovulation predictor kit.

Both will help you predict when you’re most fertile. Around the time of ovulation, you may also notice an increase in your discharge, which becomes clear and stretchy. If you have unprotected sex around this time there’s a good chance you’ll get pregnant.

Trying to conceive? Tips on how to improve your chances of conception.

If you’re trying to conceive, the next week is very important and what you do is going to influence your ability to conceive and the health of your baby.

  • Choose a healthy, well-balanced diet, stop drinking alcohol, and smoking. You don’t have to stop drinking tea or coffee altogether but cut back on your intake of caffeine if you usually have more than 2 cups a day.
  • If you haven’t done so already, start taking 0.4 mg folic acid supplements to help prevent neural tube defects which can cause spina bifida.
  • Discuss with your doctor the impact any prescription or over the counter medications you take regularly may have on your baby.
  • Don’t take any drugs as they can cause birth defects as well as respiratory problems, low birth rate and other health problems.
